Could your pet benefit from Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy?
Skin conditions, like hot spots, infections and even wounds, can be both uncomfortable and painful for your pet. At Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital, we are committed to delivering the most innovative and effective treatment options to our patients. Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy is a non-invasive way to accelerate healing and provide much-needed relief for a wide variety of dermatological ailments.

What is Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy?
Phovia therapy consists of a two-part process which includes the use of an LED lamp and a special chromophore gel. Unlike traditional laser therapy, this clinically proven system produces fluorescent light energy at multiple wavelengths, allowing it to trigger more beneficial responses at deeper layers. The result is enhanced collagen production, reduced inflammation, and faster healing of dermatological problems.
What Can Phovia Therapy Be Used For?
Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy has shown to be effective in speeding the resolution of a variety of both acute and chronic skin concerns including:
- Hot spots
- Bite wounds
- Lick granulomas
- Traumatic wounds
- Skin infections
- Surgical incisions
Benefits of Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy
Phovia therapy offers a variety of benefits, including but not limited to:
- Reduced Pain and Inflammation
- Faster and More Complete Healing
- Non-Invasive Treatment Option

- Cost-Effective Alternative to Surgery
What Does a Phovia Session Consist Of?
Phovia Fluorescent Light Therapy sessions are quick, easy, and completely painless for your pet. We’ll start by cleaning the treatment area and then we’ll apply the special chromophore gel. The doctor will then activate and apply the Phovia light to the affected area for a period of about two minutes. Once the session is complete, the skin will be cleaned, and your pet will be ready to go home!
Will Phovia Interfere with My Pet’s Medications?
Phovia can be safely used in conjunction with most common medications that are prescribed for dermatological conditions, including immunomodulators, steroids, and most antibiotics.
How Many Phovia Sessions Will My Pet Need?
The number of recommended sessions your pet will need will depend on his or her unique circumstances. Once the doctor has had the opportunity to evaluate your pet’s condition and its severity, you will be provided with an individualized treatment plan.

Richard “Sherpa” Lester2024-07-31 They took great care of my dog Lauren Brimmer2024-06-27 Stopping at nearby Fern Lake, part of Pine Mountain Club, we had just arrived with our terrier mix, Keiko, when she gobbled some jackass fisherman’s discarded fishing lure, including what turned out to be a very large hook that lodged at the back of her throat! Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital came to our rescue in every way. We called and were invited in on an emergency priority, traveling the 30 miles to their hospital where they stood ready and waiting to help. And they were great to both Keiko and us, explaining next steps and risks, and working step by step to sedate her for xrays, then interpret the results and prepare the next step. Keiko was lucky. The hook set just below her tongue and Dr Cosko was able to remove it with heavy sedation. It’s two days later and Keiko is already back to her old (she’s nearly 13 but acts about 5) self! While we want to throttle some careless fishermen for leaving fish-scented tackle for our curious dog to swallow, we can’t say enough good things about Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital! Their facility had everything Keiko needed. Laur Mor2024-05-27 This Hospital was so accommodating to our family in the time of crisis. We were vacationing and our pet collapsed. Even though the outcome was not good, they were kind and understanding to everyone. I thank them for their thoughtfulness, and pray for all they are able to care for. Dian Schneider2024-04-08 Great vet, great communication. Totally worth the drive for me, I live about 30 miles away.
