Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated Associate Veterinarian to join our well-established general practice in the beautiful mountain community of Lebec, California.

About the Role

As an Associate Veterinarian, you’ll join a collaborative and capable medical team committed to delivering traditional, full-spectrum veterinary care. This role is ideal for a well-rounded clinician who values quality medicine and long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams and diagnostics and develop treatment plans
  • Conduct routine surgeries, dental procedures, and anesthesia management
  • Build trust with clients through clear, empathetic communication
  • Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure efficient, effective care
  • Keep thorough, up-to-date medical records
  • Participate in case discussions, CE, and internal development opportunities
  • Soft tissue surgery and basic dentistry

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice in the state of California
  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered, relationship-based veterinary care
  • Experience in general practice preferred, but mentorship available
  • Leadership skills

Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital – Veterinary Assistant Position

We have proudly provided exceptional veterinary care to the Greater Frazier Mountain community and surrounding areas since the late 80’s! The veterinary assistant is the entire team’s primary support. Every department relies on their significant role in aiding with a variety of services to provide excellent client and patient care.

Job Description:

  • Assist with patient care and treatment.
  • Monitor hospitalization pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery.
  • Maintaining inventory and stocking
  • Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
  • Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, ultrasound, optical exam, neurologic testing)
  • Maintaining & sterilize surgical instruments / equipment.
  • Clean / Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospitalization.
  • Administering medications under Veterinarian/ Vet Tech supervision
  • Feeding / bathing animals
  • Customer Service & Answering Phones
  • Helping clients with their pets
  • The desire to perform a multitude of veterinary assistant tasks under direct supervisin of the veterinarian including blood draws, catheter placement, obtaining urine/stool samples, surgical preparation and assistance, and MORE!

Qualification:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be a self – starter, able to multitask and a team player.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Prefer 1+ years of small and large animal experiences (not required)
  • Ability to meet physical requirements lifting, carrying, walking, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Alternating 4/10 schedule with one Saturday shift per month required

Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital – Registered Veterinary Technician / Lead Technician Position 

We have proudly provided exceptional veterinary care to the Greater Frazier Mountain community and surrounding areas since the late 80’s! The Registered Veterinary Technician / Lead Technician plays a vital leadership role within the hospital by supporting medical excellence, maintaining efficient workflow, mentoring support staff, and ensuring exceptional patient and client care.

Job Description:

  • Lead and support the veterinary technician and assistant team during daily hospital operations.
  • Assist the veterinarian with appointments, surgery, diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform and oversee anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, dentistry including dental scaling, polishing, and dental radiographs, radiology, nursing care, and patient treatment responsibilities.
  • Oversee patient care and monitor hospitalized patients throughout treatment and recovery.
  • Ensure surgical preparation, sterile technique, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care are completed according to hospital standards.
  • Train and mentor veterinary assistants and support staff on hospital protocols, patient handling, medical procedures, safety procedures, and workflow efficiency.
  • Provide clinical leadership and operational support to the veterinary team and hospital leadership.
  • Assist with technician team supervision, staff training and mentoring, workflow management, inventory oversight, quality control, and supporting hospital leadership initiatives.
  • Perform blood draws, catheter placement, radiographs, laboratory testing, medication administration, and patient treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation within hospital software systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels, controlled substance logs, treatment supplies, and surgical materials to ensure hospital readiness and compliance.
  • Maintain and oversee proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, equipment, treatment areas, kennels, and exam rooms.
  • Assist with client communication regarding patient care, treatment plans, discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Support hospital leadership in maintaining workflow efficiency, accountability, professionalism, and a positive team culture.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient during emergencies and high-volume caseloads.
  • Help maintain OSHA, DEA, and hospital compliance standards throughout the facility.
  • Serve as a leadership example by maintaining professionalism, reliability, strong communication, and compassionate patient care.

Qualification:

  • Must possess a current California RVT license in good standing or be currently eligible and preparing to sit for the RVT examination in the near future.
  • Required 2+ years of veterinary technician experience in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting experience required.
  • Experience with radiology, laboratory diagnostics, dentistry, hospitalized patient care, and nursing care required.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and lead a team effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills required.
  • Must be dependable, accountable, detail-oriented, and a self-starter.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can compassionately care for pets that are stressed, ill, or in pain.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting, carrying, standing, bending, and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Small and large animal experience is preferred but not required.
  • Alternating 4/10 schedule with one Saturday shift per month required.
