Hospital Husbandry and Kennel Care

I am the person working at Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital that you may never see….which is why my nickname is ‘The Figment’. I come in late in the day and work in to the wee hours of the morning.

I am the one who keeps everything clean, sanitary, sterilized and organized…the one who cleans up the big mess at the end of a very busy day.

My first experience with the veterinary field was with horses!

I have had a long career with horses prior to working at Mountain Aire, in fact, I was a horse jockey at Santa Anita Racetrack! There, I assisted many equine veterinarians during that time.

My passion for small animal medicine began when a beloved cat became ill with intestinal lymphoma. During those 3 yrs after initial diagnoses, we spent many hours and many visits at veterinary hospitals all over Southern California, where I learned from the doctors and technicians how to care for my cats medical needs at home, as best I can…like we try to teach many of our clients here.

Between caring for him, and spending a lot of time watching veterinarians and technicians treating other pets as well as my own, a desire to work in the small animal veterinary field began to grow.

I wanted to be able to help other pets and pet owners like doctors and technicians had done for me. I am called out to especially help clients with cats.

Because I still train horses in the daylight hours, I don’t get to see any of you much but will make myself available to teach ‘at-home’ techniques.

Tami

Tami

Dental Hygienist Assistant

Hi, my name is Tami. I initially started as a client back in 1991 and was impressed with how friendly everyone was and how they cared for my pet. I eventually asked if I could volunteer, which turned into my applying, going to school and becoming a certified Vet Tech. I am a big animal lover and I have always had them since I was a little girl. Taking care of animals has always come natural to me, and my coworkers say I even talk their language. That is why I went back to school and became a Certified Dog Trainer, as well.

I currently live in Cuddy Valley with my husband Patrick (of Shanpat Construction) 3 dogs Chloe, Nala and Timber, and one cat Smokey. Talk about Pet Insurance! I’m hoping to have horses someday also.

Jordan

Veterinary Assistant

Jordan brings a deep-rooted commitment to animal care to her role as a veterinary assistant at Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital. Raised in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Jordan grew up surrounded by horses and livestock, spending her early years cleaning stalls, riding horses, and volunteering at local ranches simply for the chance to be near animals. That hands-on upbringing shaped not only her work ethic, but also her belief that animals deserve attentive, informed, and compassionate care.

One experience in particular solidified Jordan’s path. A horse that lived near her home was kept in poor conditions, despite repeated assurances that nothing was wrong. Even as a student, Jordan noticed the signs—hoof issues, weight loss, and an old injury that had never healed properly. When the animal was eventually seized by animal control, Jordan felt a mix of heartbreak and relief. That moment stayed with her and continues to guide her work today. If she cannot personally care for every animal, she is determined to advocate for them and educate others so better care can be provided.

Jordan pursued agricultural science throughout high school, enrolling in an intensive veterinary and animal husbandry programme that introduced her to small, large, and exotic animal care. From assisting with livestock births to learning veterinary tools and procedures, she knew she had found her calling. Her dedication continued through Future Farmers of America, where she raised and showed a lamb for her senior project—an experience that taught her perseverance, responsibility, and pride in hard-earned results.

At Mountain Aire, Jordan enjoys helping pet owners understand the value of veterinary care and seeing how treatment can improve a pet’s quality of life. She takes pride in connecting with clients from all backgrounds and supporting both pets and their people through every stage of care.

Outside of work, Jordan’s life is happily full of animals—including dogs, cats, and her beloved Mustang, Penny—who remind her daily why advocacy, education, and compassion matter.

Daniela “Ella”

Daniela “Ella”

Remote Receptionist

Daniela, known to clients and colleagues as Ella, is part of the remote receptionist team at Mountain Aire Animal Clinic. Even from thousands of miles away in the Philippines, she plays an important role in helping clients connect with the clinic and access the care their pets need.

Ella helps schedule appointments, process refill requests, and handles administrative tasks for the Mountainaire team. By listening carefully and helping each request move forward, she creates a smoother experience for clients and the onsite team.

What Ella enjoys most is knowing that her work makes a difference. Scheduling an appointment helps a pet get in front of the care team. Processing a refill request helps maintain continuity of care. Managing messages and administrative details allows other team members to remain focused on the pets in front of them. Although Ella works remotely, she loves being a dependable part of the daily rhythm of the clinic.

Her role also keeps her connected to a calling that first blossomed during childhood. Ella’s deep love of animals inspired her to dream of studying veterinary medicine, but fate ultimately led her along a different path. As her own journey unfolded, however, that love never disappeared. If the opportunity to return to school arises, Ella would choose veterinary medicine, a dream that remains close to her heart still.

Life on the farm Ella shares with her husband, Mederico, gives that dream a place to grow. In 2026, one of the family’s pigs experienced a difficult labor when a piglet became lodged during delivery. Ella sensed that something was wrong and carefully helped to free the piglet. The experience was challenging, but knowing she had helped both the mother and piglet made it deeply meaningful.

Ella’s farm is full of life with her dogs, Charcoal and Lala; Tammy the cat; and a flock of chickens she has named herself, each with a personality all its own. Charcoal loves food, Lala enjoys running through the fields, and Tammy seeks out Ella whenever hunger interrupts her naps.

Outside of work and farm life, Ella enjoys reading novels and loves music, fitness and art. She is grateful for the peaceful life she and Mederico have built and for a career that allows her to support people, pets and the Mountainaire team with genuine care.

Kris

Kris

Remote Receptionist

Kris grew up in Bacolod City, Philippines, known as the “City of Smiles.” It was a heartbreaking local news story with a happy ending that inspired his career journey. Shelters in his home town were struggling to keep up with the stray dog population, and street dogs were facing a terrible fate. Then someone stepped in, bought all of the dogs to save them and opened a shelter for them to stay safely in.

That act of kindness stayed with Kris and inspired him to find his own way to make a difference for animals. Working as a veterinary receptionist gave him that opportunity by helping pet owners connect with the care their companions need.

He began working as a veterinary receptionist in 2020 and joined Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital in January 2022. It was the first clinic he worked with exclusively, allowing him to get to know clients and their pets more closely.

For Kris, the most rewarding moments on the job come from helping to address a pet parent’s concerns. Having two dogs of his own makes those conversations especially meaningful. He also enjoys learning about pet health and bringing that knowledge home with him. His attention to detail finds another outlet in prescription refill requests, where he likes checking information against the veterinary team’s instructions and keeping track of remaining refills.

At home, Kris lives with his mom, Lily, who loves starting her mornings with Zumba, and his dogs, Katniss and Koton. His Chow Chow, Katniss, is named after The Hunger Games heroine, although Kris jokes that Katniss has never experienced hunger. With her big appetite, meals are always a priority, followed by chasing birds and butterflies in the backyard. Koton, his fluffy Japanese Spitz, takes her role as his work companion seriously, settling near his feet while he’s at his desk.

Off the clock, Kris enjoys walking his dogs, watching movies and getting lost in young adult, crime and fantasy novels. He’s a big Harry Potter fan and a recent pickleball enthusiast. Playing with friends inspired him to enter a local competition, where he proudly finished third.
